Learning Objectives

As a result of completing the Reliability-Based Maintenance Fundamentals training course, participants will have the ability to;

  • Understand the characteristics of functional failure
  • Understand about reliability distributions and system availability
  • Demonstrate an example of how each is used (both correctly and incorrectly) within industry
  • Understand the symptoms that Condition Monitoring techniques monitor
  • Define RBI and Asset Risk Profiling with a basic understanding of the relationship between RBI and a CMMS
  • Understand what generic maintenance strategies are and how they are applied
  • Identify the most suitable maintenance strategy/strategies based on their organisation‚Äôs requirement
  • Define gathering the correct data for FMECA, probability, consequence, detectability, Risk Prior Number (RPN), RPN calculation and implementation with regards to the FMECA process
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the purpose of RCM
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the six failure patterns and associated failure rates
  • Define P-F intervals and determine identifiable conditions for functional failure
  • Understand the components of the RCM process, and its application within industry
  • Understand the importance of prioritisation in implementation, RCM Review Groups and the benefits of RCM
  • Outline the 7 basic questions of the RCM process
  • Explain the packaging of tasks, maintenance planning and control systems and reporting defects
